The time has come to part with your beloved toothbrush. The American Dental Association recommends that you replace your toothbrush about every three to four months. Our dentist and team are here if you need advice on picking the toothbrush that best suits your needs.
Your toothbrush’s head should be small so that it easily reaches all areas of your mouth. The bristles of the toothbrush should be soft, or even extra soft. Toothbrushes with medium or hard bristles could potentially damage your tooth enamel. It is also recommended that the bristles of the toothbrush have varying lengths so that the brush can easily access the grooves of the teeth. Choose the shape of your toothbrush head based on your individual preference.
There are different types of toothbrush handles available. You may select a non-slip grip handle, a handle with a flexible neck, or whatever is the most comfortable for you. The best toothbrush is one that you will use with comfort and ease.
Manual vs. Electronic
As far as choosing whether to use a manual or electronic toothbrush, either type of toothbrush can thoroughly and effectively clean your teeth if used correctly. An electronic toothbrush may be preferable if you have difficulty brushing, if you tend to scrub your teeth, or if you have limited manual dexterity.
